Getting started & suitability (9)
You must obtain the consent of the person(s) being monitored before installing My Assisted Home in someone else’s property. When we send you our quote it will include a consent form for the person(s) being monitored or for you to state you have legal authority (Power of Attorney).
Yes at the moment to send alerts, to connect to your information from outside your home, and for support,ย a broadband service is needed at the home.ย We are considering offering a mobile-internet based service in the future, so if this is important to you, please get in touch and ask us when it will be ready.
Not at all. Myah is designed to be useful and inform, not operated. It updates itself. If you can glance at a calendar on the wall, you can use Myah.
No. Myah is a helpful unified smart home service that also includes a safety net. The best time to have add new things to your life is while you’re well and busy, adapting after a crisis is never easy. Because the daily features earn their keep from the start with the safety net simply in the background, we’ve made it useful, affordable and sensible to be proactive.
Thatโs exactly who itโs designed for. The system works over your parentโs home broadband, whether they are living alone in Suffolk or anywhere else in the UK. You can be anywhere in the world, at work or down the road and still see their activity. Shrinking the distance is the whole point.
You can simply deactivate alerts when you are away for over a day. This can be scheduled well in advance. Myah still operates, and you can glance at it from anywhere on your phone: handy for that “did we shut the front door?” moment on the way to the airport or when out for a day.
The parent dashboard is designed to be read, not operated. It updates itself. Thereโs nothing to click, nothing to remember โ and crucially, nothing to wear. Many of our usersโ parents are in their 80s and donโt do tech.
Only the people you choose, and only activity information: no images, no sound. Everything stays on the hub in your own home, which you own. You can change who sees what at any time through the app.
Yes, but inactivity alerts will be impaired if the pet triggers the motion sensors. Please let us know if you have a pet so we can discuss how to place the motion sensors so that they see people rather than pets as much as possible.
Safety & limitations (5)
Like other products in this space, our products use consumer-grade technology such as ZigBee and broadband. While we strive for high reliability, we cannot guarantee the products work 100% of the time.
No, My Assisted Home, Myah, contains elements of assistive technology which is designed for insightful monitoring and alerts using consumer-grade technology. Myah complements, but does not replace, human care. On top of monitoring our flexible platform allows us to provide information & home-control services to create a complete assisted home.
We are testing power banks to give an extra 4 or 5 hours of backup power for your hub and broadband router. Please join our mailing list if this is important for you and we will announce when it is available.
My Assisted Home will alert you immediately if your parentโs routine changes significantly โ so you can call them or ask a neighbour to check in. We donโt have a 24/7 professional response centre. If your parent has already had a fall or has significant health concerns, a personal alarm pairs well alongside us โ they handle the crisis response, we handle the day-to-day picture.
Weโre honest about this because we think itโs important. The right combination of products beats the wrong single one.
My Assisted Home, Myah, will detect the inactivity after a fall. Some wearables say they detect a hard fall, but if someone slumps to the floor (soft fall) they may not detect it. Inactivity resulting from a soft fall will be detected by Myah.
Cancelling & returns (4)
Just get in touch and we’ll talk you through it. We’ll ask you to send the equipment back to us in its original condition, and we’ll confirm the return address and answer any questions before you post anything. Once it reaches us and we’ve checked it over, we’ll process your refund.
We’ll always tell you clearly what will be refunded before you send anything back, so there are no surprises.
We don’t want to create electronic waste, so after the 30 day trial period is over and if you no longer need My Assisted Home we can often offer to buy back any unwanted equipment based on its condition, age and market value.
Your subscription covers secure remote access, support and updates. If you decide to stop these, you can cancel and you won’t be charged again after your current period ends.
The equipment is yours to keep. If you’d rather part with it, we can often buy it back at prevailing market rates, to help prevent e-waste. Your statutory rights always apply, and we won’t make cancelling difficult.
We’d be sorry to see you go, though. If something isn’t working the way you’d hoped, drop us a line at [email protected] – even a sentence or two really helps. Sometimes it’s something we can put right; and if not, your feedback genuinely shapes how we make My Assisted Home better.
We want you to feel confident about your decision, so we make returns simple. On top of your legal right to cancel within 14 days, we give you a full 30-day money-back guarantee on the equipment โ if it isn’t right for you, send it back within 30 days and we’ll refund it.
The one thing we can’t refund is the time spent setting up and installing your system once that work is done, as it’s tailored to your home. The full details are in our Terms and Conditions which you can find within our important documents.
If something isn’t working as you’d hoped, please do talk to us first. We’ll always try to put it right.
What it does day to day (3)
Yes, you can buy additional sensors when you are ready.
You set the inactivity alert thresholds that matter to you โ for example, if thereโs no sign of activity by 10am. The moment that threshold is breached, you and your parentโs care circle are sent an app-notification or email โ or both.
We plan to introduce heating control ready for the coming winter.
Privacy & monitoring (2)
Only you and the people you authorise can see your activities, we do not store it or access it without your permission, nor sell it or make it accessible to other companies. When you access it from outside the home it is encrypted to prevent people from reading it as it travels.
The sensors detect movement, not identity. There are no cameras or microphones inside the home. Your parent sees their own dashboard and can understand exactly whatโs being tracked; which makes a significant difference to how they feel about it. Their activity information stays in their house, on the hub they own โ My Assisted Home is designed for privacy.
Owning & pricing (1)
Yes. All the equipment we supply – the hub, the gateway, the sensors, etc – is yours to keep from the moment you’ve paid for it. You own the equipment outright; we look after the software and the configuration that makes it all work together.
This is deliberate. Owning the hardware is what lets us keep the monthly cost low, rather than charging you rent on equipment indefinitely. It’s the same thinking as owning a home rather than renting it.
Delivery (1)
Sorry at the moment we are only serving UK based customers. Do get in touch and leave your details and we will add you to our mailing list and keep you informed when we expand.
